Congresswoman Matsui visits the Get A Job Kit program
“A local agency gave me The Get A Job Kit, and I liked the way it was packaged. It had lots of tips about how to look professional, and I even wrote thank you notes for the first time! My persistence paid off with a job offer from a local start-up company.”

California Congresswoman Doris Matsui toured The Get A Job Kit program in May after honoring Women’s Empowerment–the organization that produces the Kit–with the inaugural Women’s Appreciation Award for Organization of the Year in March.
Of Women’s Empowerment, Matsui said: “Women’s Empowerment provides a warm and safe environment for homeless women, empowering them to make the changes needed to obtain jobs, stable housing, and make healthy choices for themselves and their children,” Matsui said. “The good work being done by Women’s Empowerment is evident in the results of those they have helped.” Only a few months earlier, the organization launched The Get A Job Kit paid training program, which prepares women who are homeless with the advanced job skills necessary to succeed in their job searches.
