Congresswoman Matsui visits the Get A Job Kit program
“Like so many One Stop Centers, we serve a region that’s been hit hard by layoffs and downsizing. The Get A Job Kit supplements existing county employment services and helps us respond more rapidly. We keep a supply on hand because you never know when the next shoe will drop.”

California Congresswoman Doris Matsui toured The Get A Job Kit program in May after honoring Women’s Empowerment–the organization that produces the Kit–with the inaugural Women’s Appreciation Award for Organization of the Year in March.
Of Women’s Empowerment, Matsui said: “Women’s Empowerment provides a warm and safe environment for homeless women, empowering them to make the changes needed to obtain jobs, stable housing, and make healthy choices for themselves and their children,” Matsui said. “The good work being done by Women’s Empowerment is evident in the results of those they have helped.” Only a few months earlier, the organization launched The Get A Job Kit paid training program, which prepares women who are homeless with the advanced job skills necessary to succeed in their job searches.
